This whole day was CRAZY. Shohei Ohtani pitched (horribly) and batted leadoff. Then I snagged four (yes, FOUR!) game-used baseballs, the Yankees blew a tremendous lead, and the game lasted until 1:06am. That’s what a lengthy rain delay will do, followed by another rain delay.
As I mentioned late in this video, this is only the second time I’ve ever gotten a foul ball and a home run during one game. The first time happened on April 6, 2011 at Camden Yards. Here’s a big blog entry I wrote about it:
The Brett Gardner dinger was the 75th game home run I’ve ever snagged (NOT counting the 10 home run balls that have been thrown to me). Check out the complete list(s) here:
This was the 37th time I’ve ever snagged two or more game-used balls during one game (again, NOT counting toss-ups). The breakdown is as follows:
23 games with with 2 foul balls
5 games with 2 home run balls
4 games with three foul balls
2 games with a foul ball and a home run ball
1 game with four foul balls
1 game with seven foul balls
1 game with 3 home run balls
So yeah, I promised you lots of stats, and you got ‘em! FYI, you can always check out the following page on my website for my updated numbers:
If you like the Zack Hample t-shirt that you saw in this video, why not pick one up for yourself? Here’s where to find them:
Huge thanks to my friend Jere for filming me at this game. We’ve been friends for a decade, and it was great to finally work together to bring you some YouTube magic. He actually has his own channel — check it out:
Jere lives in Rhode Island and had to drive home after this game. (Of course he first had to come back to my place to get his stuff after staying with me for two nights.) He didn’t get home until 6am, so I’d like to extend a massive first-bump to him for plowing through and never complaining about how long everything was taking.
And speaking of plowing through, thanks to everyone who watched this entire video. I know it was long, and I hope you enjoyed it.
